Around 360 B.C., Plato wrote his dialogue Timaeus, in which he imagined the universe as a geocentric system, including a concept called Music of the Spheres, in which each planet would have its own tonality of sound according to its orbital revolution. The entire system was divided into an octave, a fifth, a fourth and a tone. In this way, the solar system would constitute a perfect musical score. In collaboration with the Centre de recherche en astrophysique de Lyon, Guillaume Marmin and Philippe Gordiani drew inspiration from this theory to create the Timée installation, an immersive device composed of light beams and spatialized sound waves.
