caves

Research suggests that cave spaces with the most intricate acoustics, also contain the most cave paintings. Prehistoric cave dwellers thus appear to have paid special attention to the acoustic properties of the spaces in which they sang, and performed their rituals. Our early ancestors are thought to have also used the echo and reverb of their voice, to determine their position in dark caves, using echolocation. CAVES offers a glimpse into the past, for those of us who have forgotten these listening skills. Intricate choir harmonies were recorded with 3D audio techniques, allowing you to experience what it’d be like to be surrounded by an intimate choir, in the middle of a large prehistoric cave. CAVES was created by director and composer Alex Raúl, art director Bats Bronsveld, and character designer Charleton Mercelina.
