‘Requiem’ is just that a requiem for my stepfather – Kenneth Richard Piesse ‘Ken’ (2nd September 1932 – 9th september 2023) . It was made pretty much live using the linux desktop as a performance space using various techniques including real time mouse driven feedback, sound manipulation, hex-editing and ffmpeg filtering. The Audio was sampled from Samuel Barbers’ ‘adagio for strings’ (78rpm public domain version found on archive.org), which was reverse sonified and manipulated, stretched and filtered then used as a soundtrack whilst creating the video live as a meditation on a life well lived and a saying goodbye and letting go.
