Irene Olympiou
Irene Olympiou (b. 1987, Athens) currently lives, works, and creates in Athens. Her artistic practice explores the forms of painting medium including photography and mixed media. Her quest focuses on optical relations and how the visual process intervenes in perceptual ability and its spatial structure. Public urban places and the everyday practice of space are the milestones of her artistic inspiration. As an individual artist, she has participated in solo and group exhibitions and collective projects since 2008. She graduated from the School of Fine Arts at the University of Ioannina and also did her postgraduate studies there and Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens. As a video art curator, she has done projects with international festivals, museums, and institutions, participated in talks, and has also been a member of video art juries since 2011. Her curatorial research explores the boundaries of digital expression and how video art is affected by technology.
