Aleksandr Gordeev
Aleksandr Gordeev, born in Kazan, Russia in 1994, currently resides in Hamburg, Germany. Aleksandr is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative range encompasses graphics, poetry and sculpture. He is best known for his work with poetry. In his drawings he turns to simple materials – paper, pen, pencil, ink and markers. Working with text, he uses practices of experimental and visual poetry. Gordeev’s work explores themes of identity in a state of change. Influenced by his experience working as a fashion model, Aleksandr draws attention to relationships between clothes and body and sense of self in his work. One of his significant projects was the calligraphy-inspired Asemic Letters series of 2020, marking a breakthrough moment in his career. This series was widely recognised in the institutional art world, leading to subsequent exhibitions and participation at renowned Russian art fairs. In 2022 Aleksandr started to organize and curate poetry reading.
